Bookmarks & Search

Learn how to quickly find and access your most important resources using bookmarks and search.

Bookmarks

Bookmarks allow you to save frequently accessed resources for quick access from your Home tab.

What Can You Bookmark?

You can bookmark:

  • Resource pages - Any page or folder in your resource hierarchy
  • PDF documents - Individual PDF files for quick access
  • Web links - External web resources

Adding Bookmarks

To bookmark a resource page:

  1. Navigate to the page you want to bookmark in the Resources tab
  2. Look for the bookmark icon in the header (top-right)
  3. Tap the bookmark icon
  4. The icon fills in to indicate the page is bookmarked
tip

The bookmark icon only appears on sub-pages, not the main resource page.

Viewing Bookmarks

To access your bookmarked resources:

  1. Navigate to the Home tab
  2. Your bookmarks appear in the main section
  3. Tap any bookmark to navigate directly to that page
  4. You'll be taken to the exact page you bookmarked in the Resources tab

Removing Bookmarks

To remove a bookmark:

From the Resource Page

  1. Navigate to the bookmarked page in the Resources tab
  2. Tap the filled bookmark icon in the header
  3. The bookmark is removed

Bookmark Tips

  • Bookmark strategically - Save pages you access multiple times daily
  • Deep pages work best - Bookmark nested pages that take several taps to reach
  • Review regularly - Remove bookmarks you no longer use

Empty Bookmarks State

If you haven't bookmarked anything yet:

  • The Home tab will show an empty state message
  • You'll see a prompt to add bookmarks from the Resources tab
  • Start by exploring resources and bookmarking useful pages

The search feature helps you quickly find any resource in your department's library.

To open search:

  1. Go to the Resources tab
  2. Tap the search icon in the header (top-right)
  3. The search screen opens with a text input field
  4. Your keyboard appears automatically
  1. Enter title keywords - Type what you're looking for
  2. Results appear automatically - No need to press "enter"
  3. Results update live - As you type, results refine
  4. Tap to open - Select any result to navigate to it

What Search Looks For

Search finds matches in:

  • Page names - Any page or folder in your resources
  • Document titles - Names of PDF documents
  • Web link names - Titles of web resources
  • Contact names - Phone and email entries
  • All nested content - Items at any level of your resource hierarchy

Understanding Search Results

Results are organized by type and show:

Resource Icon - Visual indicator of the type (page, PDF, web, phone, email)

Resource Title - The name of the item (with matching text highlighted)

Breadcrumb Path - Shows where the item is located (e.g., "Protocols / Medical / Cardiac")

Detail Info - For contacts, shows the phone number or email address

Search Result Types

Search results can include:

  • Pages (Folder icon) - Tap to navigate to that page
  • PDF Documents (File icon) - Tap to open the document
  • Web Links (Globe icon) - Tap to open in the browser
  • Phone Numbers (Phone icon) - Tap to call or text
  • Email Addresses (Mail icon) - Shows the email address

Result Ordering

Search results are sorted by:

  1. Type priority - Pages first, then PDFs, web links, and contacts
  2. Alphabetical order - Within each type, items are sorted A-Z

This helps you find navigational pages first, then specific resources.

Search Tips

Be specific:

  • Search matches resource titles only (not content within documents)
tip

While the global search only searches titles, you can search within PDF documents using the in-document search feature. See Navigating Resources - Searching Documents for details.

Use partial words:

  • "proto" will find "protocols"
  • "medi" will find "medical" and "medications"

Check the path:

  • The breadcrumb shows you exactly where the item is located
  • Use this to understand your resource structure

Search Highlighting

Matching text in results is highlighted:

  • Yellow background - Shows exactly what matched your search
  • Black text on highlight - Makes matched text easy to see
  • Multiple highlights - If your search term appears multiple times

To exit search:

  1. Tap Cancel in the header
  2. You'll return to the Resources tab
  3. You'll be on the same page you were on before opening search

Empty Search Results

If no results are found:

  • Check your spelling
  • Try different keywords
  • Verify the resource exists in your department

Use both features together for maximum efficiency:

  1. Search to discover - Find new resources using search
  2. Bookmark for quick access - Save frequently needed pages as bookmarks
  3. Search when you forget - Use search if you can't remember where something is
  4. Bookmarks for daily use - Keep your most-used resources one tap away

Workflow Example

  1. Use search to find "EMS Protocols"
  2. Open the page where it's located
  3. Bookmark that page for future reference
  4. Next time, access it instantly from your Home tab bookmarks

Best Practices

For Bookmarks

  • Keep your bookmark list manageable (5-10 items)
  • Update bookmarks when your needs change
  • Use bookmarks for items you access multiple times per shift
  • Remove bookmarks for one-time use items
  • Pay attention to the breadcrumb path to learn your resource structure
  • Use search when browsing would take more than 3 taps
  • Save time by searching instead of navigating through multiple pages

Troubleshooting

Search Not Finding Something?

  • Verify the resource exists by browsing manually
  • Try different search terms or abbreviations
  • Make sure you have the latest updates installed
  • Check with your administrator if resources are missing
