Organizing Files

How to get files into your library and keep them organized.

Uploading

There are several ways to add files:

  • Click Upload Files to pick individual files, or Upload Folder to bring in a whole folder at once (ResponderOne recreates the folder for you)
  • Drag files or folders from your computer anywhere onto the workspace — a "Drop files or folders to upload" overlay confirms the target
  • Upload into a specific folder from that folder's menu (Upload Files / Upload Folder)

A progress toast tracks larger uploads.

Updating an existing file?

If you upload a file whose name matches one already in your library, ResponderOne asks whether it's a new version of the existing document instead of a duplicate — see PDF Tools & Versions.

Folders

  • Click the New folder button in the file tree header to create one
  • Each folder's menu (or right-click) offers Rename, Upload Files, Upload Folder, New Subfolder, and Delete
  • Files that aren't in any folder live in the Uncategorized section
  • Deleting a folder doesn't delete its files — they move to Uncategorized. The confirmation spells this out before you commit

Moving Files

  • Drag and drop a file onto a folder to move it — the confirmation toast has an Undo button
  • Or use the file's menu → Move to Folder and pick a destination (including Uncategorized)
  • Folders can be reordered and dropped into other folders the same way

Searching

Type in the Search files… box to switch the tree to a flat, alphabetized list of matches. Clearing the search restores the folder view.

File Actions

Every file row has a menu (also available by right-clicking):

  • Download - Save a copy to your device
  • Move to Folder - Relocate the file
  • Delete - Remove it (requires the Permanently Delete Documents permission)

Select Mode and Bulk Actions

Click the Select files tool in the file tree header to enter select mode, then check multiple files:

  • Delete - Remove everything selected in one confirmed action
  • Merge - Combine selected PDFs into a new document (enabled when 2 or more PDFs are selected — see Merging PDFs)
  • Cancel - Leave select mode

Deleting Referenced Files

If a file is still used by live resource menu items or active dosage protocols, deleting it opens a guard dialog listing those references, so you can re-point or unpublish them first. Unreferenced files get a simple confirmation.
